Urban Chicken Ranching is an expanded pamphlet that informs readers about the rules, regulations, and opportunities for raising chickens in an urban environment. While this guide can be modified for cities across the country, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, served as the primary example. This project was inspired by my personal interest in urban chicken keeping.

Develop an informative pamphlet that effectively communicates the complexities of urban chicken raising while incorporating essential design principles, including:

The pamphlet was designed to make urban chicken keeping accessible and engaging through thoughtful information design and visual hierarchy.
Information was strategically broken down into digestible sections, including Rewards, Organizing, Habitat, Testimonials, Rules, and Resources. This segmented approach prevents overwhelming readers while ensuring comprehensive coverage of the topic.
The visual design creates impact and clarity through:
+ Bold, bright chicken imagery that brings energy to the content
+ Clean white pages that maintain readability
+ Strategic use of yellow geometric shapes providing visual contrast and interest
+ Clear hierarchical structure using:
1. Large, bold section headers
2. Playful display fonts in red for subsections
3. Highly readable body copy at a smaller point size
This combination of approachable information design and dynamic visual elements creates an informative guide that's both practical and engaging.
